Regarding a reputation system:

This was tried for a bit on nsxprime and they abandoned it for whatever reason. The only problems I could see with it were people getting bad rep points and then lashing out at the people woth good rep points for no reason. It kind of skewed the whole system. But that's a completely different crowd over there and any problems they have are about 1% what you guys have to deal with here.

I don't know much about how it works but I know it has the potential to backfire.

In that case instead of being a 99.9% chance of not working it would move up to 100%

I personally don't like the moderate new user queue (basically beacause people can't read so I get a pile of emails/PMs everyday asking why can't they post yet) but if it's going to cut down on the spam, idiots, etc I can't complain too much
