gumball 3000 type rallys
I did one in '02. I forgot where it started (somewhere up North) but it ended in Chicago. This was during the big ass blackout of the northern states and it was a hunt to find gas stations with electricity so we could pump gas. I had fun though.
BTW, Gumball is up to ~$20k to enter these days thanks to it's popularity.

You guys just aren't in the know. There is an underground Cannonball that was resurrected a couple years back. It's running May 2nd, NY to CA, but I don't honestly see any one of you having the time, car, money, or testicular fortitude to participate.
BTW, for those who THINK they have the balls to do it, the winner last year finished in 37 hours, 50 minutes. NYC to Redondo Beach. You think you can touch that?

There was a couple that made it to Arizona in like 32 hours in an Accord. Then the car broke down, haha.
And 38 hours is only 75mph non stop for 2814 miles, however, once you factor in gas stops, shit breaks, etc.. you're taking more chances with the law than I would want to.
