Default Starter Problems

Got a question for you guys...

My motorcycle for some reason has trouble starting when I'm in first gear.
Before this was never an issue because I could just start the bike as long as I held my clutch in... now.. all I can do is start the bike when it's in neutral.

anyone have any ideas why this could be?

is the kickstand down when you try to start it in gear? most bikes won't let you kick the motor over in gear, or put the bike in gear with the motor running, with the kickstand down. if not, check the kickstand switch, and make sure the kickstand is compressing the switch when it's in the up position.

also check the clutch switch on the clutch perch.

you can rule out the nuetral safety switch, since your not complaining of your nuetral light not working.

The kickstand is definately up when I try to start my bike in first.. and I checked the kickstand switch and it is definately compressing the switch in the up position.

I double check the clutch and I am also holding it in all the way as well...

I am still clueless as to why it is not turning on in first..

any other suggestions?

just because the clutch switch is compressing doesn't mean it works, same with the sidestand switch, you need to break out a multimeter and physically check for good contact.
