Default 240 starter problems

well i go out to move my car this morning, it cranks at first very sluggish, so i cut it off and try again and it wont start at all. im getting power, so its not my battery, and when i turn the key i can hear a soft clicking, so im assuming its the starter.

anyone replaced a starter on a 240 before? if so, how much was it and about how long did it take?

sounds like the starter selenoid is shot. just be sure the battery and connections first...nothing like replacing the starter and it not be the faulty part. the starter is easy to replace on the KA, should take more than an hour or so.

grab a volt meter and check the battery... if its good... u might need a new starter. if thats the case ill see if i have my ka24de starter still... didnt need it after my SR swap and could give it to ya for like 20 bucks.

had that issue with my sr. thought it was the starter but turned out to be the dead battery. i got soft clicks and my radio also turned on with the dead battery also. im almost positive its a weak battery which may lead to a weak alternator..........blah blah blah..........

an easy way to check the battery is to turn on all of ur acessories like: windows, lights (high beam), radio, wipers, even brakes, etc. if have a weak battery, ur lights will be dim and ur radio will shut off when u use ur acessories.

well i think youre right. i got tired of waiting for my dad to come help me figure the shit out, so i decided to take your advice. i jumped the car and it started fine. it all sort of makes sense now, because my interior lights have been flickering for a while now when ive been driving and someone told me that my alternator was starting to whine. so im guessing the bad alternator isnt recharging the batter sufficiently.

good luck with the alternator. shit is harder than an engine swap. nissan put the alternator in the worst possible spot.

also, you should go ahead and replace the battery with the alternator together. one bad component will mess u all up.
