yes and no.... all depends. If you are taking it to the track for racing i wouldnt lower it at all... if you are gonna drag race it then i would dump it ALOT... and for just riding it on the road it wont make any difference at all.... my friend had his 04 gixxer lowerd 2 in the back and it was fine

if you just lower the rear a lil bit, it's cool. if you dump it in the weeds, then you'd need to lower the front, b/c it'll change the angle of the front suspension drastically, and it'll handle like crap. 2" or less in the rear is cool, anything more than that, and i'd lower the front some too.

hey metalhead. what exactly do i need to buy for my forks? i know oil and springs, anything else?

nah, that ought to do it. beware though, most stock fork oil is quoted as being a specific weight, but in reality it's closer to water. 10wt out to do just fine. i ran 10wt in my old sv with racetech springs and it worked well.
