cafes are all over the place in price. Some people want crazy money for nothing special and it seems others are giving cream puffs away.

For a nice solid XS650, I'd think about 2k-2.5k is a fair price. more for an excellent example and less for something that needs work. Old CBs can be had for cheap. Old GS zuks cheaper still. The XSs bring a little more money due to the following they have.

 

haha, the last xs650 i bought was running, clean, and in great shape. i spent $350 on it. then i proceeded to break out the sawz-all and cut it in half

an RD on the other hand, i would build something more period correct out of. probably upgrade the suspension to something a little more modern though.

I ebayed it a few years ago. It's in the midwest. I still get the occasional email from the owner. He had one in highschool and is reliving his youth.
