first things first, put a fresh set of plugs in it. they're probably fouled.

if you have the factory tool kit, use the plug wrench that comes in it. it's by FAR easier to use than a socket and extension on that bike.

No bfh, yeah we are going to have the carbs cleaned and synced and the valves adjusted and put fresh fuel in it.

if you start these bikes with the choke on, and don't let them run for a bit before shutting it off, the plugs are instantly fouled... and you get the symptoms you are describing...

Look for vacuum leaks too - at the carb caps and boots in particular. The rubber dry rots and leaks and causes weird issues like this. Inspect the boots carefully - cracks can hide on the inside.
