Lotus Elise avail in US May 2004
I bought my Mustang because it blended into traffic and did not attract attention. To each their own. Sometimes attention is good. The Elise is definitely a stand-out flying around corners.
Some cars were built for straight line acceleration, others for rally racing, even a few for road courses. The Elise was designed and built for handling, an achievement hailed as perfection by many.

Oh, and now that you got me thinking
The Elise 190 does 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 12.6 seconds at around 110mph. I have no clue how your car's brakes are, but im guessing this 1,600lb car can out brake you too at 119 feet. I know you have no chance at beating its skidpad or slalom #'s.
So exactly what form of racing (thats not on dirt like i said) do you think your Evo would be faster again???

A guy placed his deposit for the US version of the Lotus Elise about two years ago. Expected price target is mid-$30s. Gotta tell ya, that's a pretty darn attractive price for such a car, but I fear that the demand will push the price much higher.
I'm not a hater, nor am I on a high horse. This thread isn't about my car, it's about whether we like the ELISE or not.
Haven't any of you guys seen the video of the stock Z06 and the race prepped elise on the Nurburgring? The elise can keep up in the corners, but gets lost on any kind of straight. A top speed of 132 will do that.
40mb warning, but very very nice video.

I sure hope they do put the toyota motor in the us one cause the euro model is WEAK. Straight off the official us elise website: http://www.lotuscars.com/ukelise_specs.html
Maximum speed 132mph
0 - 60 mph 5.1 seconds
0 - 100 mph 14.0 seconds
Imagine what those numbers would look like with a 180lb passenger added on. Track times at vir? That car would get smoked by a good amount weekend racers. You know how your car feels with 4 people in it, well that is what a 1800lb. car would feel like with 2 people.
I would rather have an elise over an evo or sti too, but I wouldn't ever pay that much money for one.
The Esprit is the hottness, not the elise.

When i was in Belgium last year to get some furniture, I happen to come across one of the first Lotus dealers in Europe. The cheapest one, i think, started at $27k for the 125 hp and around 35-40k for the 190hp... not exactly sure about the hp numbers, but they were around that. There was only one old guy selling the cars, he was pretty nice even though he wouldn't let me sit in it... lol.
