Engine temp light

Default Engine temp light

On my 99 jetta my check engine lights been coming on but so i would refill the anti-freeze but then in 2 weeks come back on and the anti-freeze would be low. I've check for some leaks but couldn't find one. So anyone have ideas

Head gasket? If your antifreeze is always droping and you don't see any leaks then it could be going into your cylinders. Try a compression check and see what you find.

x2 for the headgasket. Do a leakdown test on the car for a better idea of what's going on.

call me an idiot if ya want, but your check engine light and your temp light are two different things. which one is it? your title says temp light but your post says engine light.

Look for coolant coming outta the overflow tube....... if so its more than likely the headgasket.
