What size fuse is in the end of the plug of the converter.

so hotwire it to the battery, but with a big ass fuse in between? sounds like a plan. ill let you know how it works out

the inverter seemed to work fine...so im hoping it wont burst into flames...i guess ill find out the hard way if it does

No, its not working fine. You're blowing fuses.

There is a reason that you're blowing fuses, your inverter is undersized.

Use a 400 watt inverter. Then run 10ga power to battery and a 10ga ground. What I do is 160 watts x2 = 360 so 400 watt = safe. Vector makes one, works great.

For the price of an inverter, I'm surprised no one has bothered to track down a switch mode power supply or DC/DC converter that can replace that big ass power brick. It's a huge waste of power to go from low voltage DC to mid voltage AC and then back to low voltage DC.
