Agreed. 255's on my 8.5" fit perfect.

I do 255 on a 9" rim as well out back. The 240 really likes a 245 up front though..

Buy good tires with nice stiff sidewalls and you don't need to "stretch" for response.. The Falken Azenis 615s have a very stiff sidewall. I'm sure the higher end tires do as well, but I can't afford any of that jive(BF goodrich, Michelin, ect).

I don't see it as anymore than show car stuff. It has to cause a parabolic shape of the contact patch. I wouldn't rag on anyone for doing it, but I do not see the functionality side of it. If you like it, go for it..

As far as stretched go, I have no clue.
With this mentality, what is EVER new. MOst of anything has been done already. This paint scheme is certainly not common, thus the different comment.

Thanks for the stretched tire info. I asked simply because I like the way it looks. Obviously makes no sense if there are adverse effects. Thanks guys.

I run a streched tire (225 on a 8.5rim) on my WRX because I wanted the offset and I wanted the wide look. it allows the tire to tuck and NOT rub.
I personally would never go any narrower.

We would like you to go away.

Are you doing this for astetics? Performance? Both? Because you heard its the new (I use new loosely) thing to do?

I've never popped a tire off a bead on my GTI. They were 18x10 w/245/40-18.
