Thought maybe it was a piston because i still had oil pressure and didnt hear any knocking. Get off the interstate and pull over, then i feel a little vibration as i come to a stop. Get out and look under it and theres a big puddle of oil. Then a flash light reveals a big chunk of the block broke off but still held on from the oil pan. I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later. Sucks that it went right before christmas. Well it managed to run for almost a year at 500hp, and made quite a few passes(one being a 10.91@128) I guess i will be making a build thread here soon. Probably will pull the motor out monday and post up some pics.
hey what do you drive????

That sucks man. Like I said in the text, let me know if you need anything.

Do yourself a favor and buy a longblock assembled, don't rely on a local machine shop if you want it done anytime soon.

Big bore stroker? Give your blower some cubes to work with! Make Jen return the Boobs so you can have something important like a new motor! haha

Time for that aluminum 5.4 block and some 4V heads
its said anywhere from 450-500 before they blow. i've seen some that blew at 440whp

That sucks.

But a year at 500 with a block that wasn't designed for it isn't a bad thing

Ya, I think MMR is the only one that advertises it, but if you call they can build it for you. I don't think Livernois like the Big bores though. I've seen some 322-324's.

The block is, the piston and rods, not so much.

might just pick up a new 03-04 cobra block and do a basic .20-.30 over with some nice pistons/rods

Pick up one of the Aluminator blocks or one of those Boss Modulars

I would stay aluminum if I were you. If that's all you want, just get an aluminator. Block like yours with Termy rotating assembly. You can probably get them for a good price through the dealership.

Ya, they are pricey, and have had a sketchy product lately. I would probably go with Livernois as they work very closely with Ford on engine developments.

they want like 4600 for the aluminator, but you only get either 8.5.1 compression or 10.1.1

for that price i might as well just get the livernois 298 stroker for 4999, and have the option for the 9.7.1 compression
