ever heard of gearing?

it may not snap your neck back at launch, but it does pull.

Price seems to be a bit high considering the Z (which given has been out for a year already) is head and shoulders over the 8 in both the straights and the twisties. If you don't believe me, look at any Car and Driver or any other reputable auto magazine (Import Tuner and Super Street excluded plz).
just FYI, you can have a performance-loaded RX-8 with all the performance pieces for 28k. All the extra cost are just luxury items.

wow, take a breath there zoomzoom...not saying the car sucks, read between the lines before you snap guess some people have some serious company loyalty on these boards...

gearing isn't going to make up for the torque, i think we all know that. while the lack of torque won't kill the car, it is definitely one of the downsides

and no you are not going to get that car for 28k...good fucking luck. dealer mark up will take car of that (which is why i compared it to the 350z...in case you didn't notice)

laters, and chill before you blow a vein

Gearing may not make up for everything but it does have more torque than a S2000, which isn't a bad car....just my 50c

true that. also. i believe that mazda has somethign up its sleave with the whole low dyno numbers. it would really make sence for the ecu to change maps and the way it controlls the ports after the break-in period. Mazda doesn't want ppl to be scared of the rotary. which they shouldn't becuase its non-turbo anyway. PLUS its all sideports. so that means there are no edges for the apex seals to run over.

Right on! Afterall, the Mustang is the only vehicle Ford has ever made

Have you drove a V6 GT? I think I could push an RX8 faster than that thing goes.

Actually no, I've never driven any Hyundai. But if you look at the specs the Tib is 30hp short of the rx8 but has +17tq, and weighs about the same (40lbs lighter). Granted its FWD, but with the same gears the Tib should be about as quick, at least in a straight line. Not to mention it's $7,000 cheaper. Sad.
