This is where I VERY disagree. Yaw inertia has everything to do with handling. You probably already know the skidpad is just turning in one direction. Yaw doesn't play to much there. Now, when you start to slalom, that's where the yaw inertia comes into effect.
You've made several points, all of which I agreed on... for the most part. I'm not denying the Z is an overall better car, stock for stock, but come on... who really buys a performance car and leaves it stock?

My car has 4 seats, but you couldn't cram much beside a toddler in the back comfortably.
My brother and I sat in one him in front me in back right behind him and we were fine. We arent what i would call petiete by no means either. BTW this is RotorNotPiston posting on my bro's account.

Howdy Everybody

I was just gonna elaborate on some of the things I heard were hinging on the RX8 sales figures.

1 - 2006 4th Gen RX-7 This should be an amazing car although at the moment have seen three different potential design concpets only one of which looks really hot. This will be purchased by me however (if they produce them) seeing as I will have just graduated and be in need of a brand new ride. The numbers I have been seeing suggest probably a little over 300 as far as power goes. I have heard two theories as to how they are going to do it...one is a 1.6 liter instead of the traditional 1.3 or the good ol turbo 1.3

2 - A new power plant option for the Miata. I believe i read this in a car and driver. Something about Mazda wanting to offer a rotary powered Miata. Personally I don't know about this. I love the RX-7 and I like the Miata but I am a purist and would prefer the rotaries be left in their symbiotic chassis. And plus what if the miata rotary sucks for some reason that wouldnt rest well on my mind lol.

3 - Of course all the wonderful trim options that could abound for the rx8. Mazda usually likes to keep the rx7 pure as far as performance goes I think the most we will se is a droptop if they make a new generation. But I think they will use the versatilty and market segement of the rx8 to propose other more diverse trim options like a four door or a coupe or a convertible etc etc.

4 - Second most importantly after the 4th gen is the availability of after market products. My thinking is as the rotary grows in popularity the innovations will come that much faster as well making for an even more ferocious performer.

That was quite a big post. If you read it amen to you ok im done wahoo

I am gonna go play tribes 2 now which everybody should do cuz it is cheap and fun but anyway.

Bye

The rotary engines produced before the RENESIS were based on 60's technology. It was known that the peripheal (sp?) exhaust ports weren't very efficient. So, I'm sure the RENESIS is going to be alot more reliable and responsive to mods.

What killed the RX7 in terms of reliability was that the dealerships didn't try to troubleshoot problems, they just threw new motors at the cars and called it good. Also, the computer was tuned for Japanese 100 octane gas (it was never converted to run 93). So, it was very edgy to mods, considering the ECU was near it's limits already. Poor tuning is another culprit for blown motors.

Like was stated already, if the RX8 does well, then I'm sure we're going to see a 4G RX7. The rotary engineers at Mazda had a hell of a time convincing them to re-introduce the rotary into the market with their new design.

The RX8 compares well to the 350Z since the Z is supposed to be a performance orientated car and the RX8 is to be a "family" car. Which it CAN seat 4 adults comfortably. My father-in-law and I sat in one.
