Default New tune and new numbers thanks to Ed Hutchings at Automotive Technology Inc.

After watching some well respected Corvetteforum members get their respective 383 and 402s worked by Ed I decided I'd had enough of my finicky car. My cam is large, but not crazy by todays standards, in the proper hands it should drive very near stock.

Lets just say my original dyno-tune was IMO inadequate for the modificaitons the car had undergone. It was simple dyno-tuned... no street tuning, no drivability tuning, no VE table adjustment. In short, not enough to make a cam'd car drive like stock.

The car hates to idle when started, especially a warm or hot start. I have to blip the throttle to get it to finally idle. Once underway the car drives fine, but hit stop and go traffic and it likes to start idle hunting again... it gets very old.

So... should have the car back Friday... told Ed that I don't care about numbers at all... I want it to drive as close to stock as possible and be tuned so that I can drive it at VIR in 100 degree weather on 93 octane w/o worrying. It'll be interesting to see the outcome.

Well here are the results This is with the car hot, no cool down and a 1/2 point richer AFR (12.5:1 vs. 13.0:1) than before. My previous numbers were 424/378 corrected... I'd always though 378 torque was low for my mods, but the original tuner said it's normal for such a heavily exhaust biased cam. And... if it drives as good as he says it is I'll be more than satisifed... the extra power is just icing on the cake.

I can't wait to see the drivability now that it's been thoroughly tuned.

Good torque gain Brian.... That should make it more fun coming out of the turns at VIR! Do you have your old graph to overlay with it to see how much you picked up under the curve???

You need to get a tune by now.... If not Ed, go see Shawn at Va Speed. Brian does the tuning there.... He drives the Navy Blue H/C Firehawk.
