Lowering an Eclipse
I used to have 17s and I was lowered 2 inches, but there was still too much gap between tire and fender. I eventually lowered the car 4 1/2 inches to lose the gap. Now that I'm on 19s, I'm only dropped 2 inches and it looks perfect. PM me if you want pictures.
Oh yeah, I have an air ride kit for a 2g eclipse if you are interested.

You want to lower your car and you're not gonna get aftermarket shocks? You can do it, but you'll probably eventually blow your stocks. Lowered springs like stiffer shocks. So I would NOT recommend lowering your car an inch and a half w/o aftermarket shocks to go with it.
And I agree with Mills...If you're gettin a lip, 1 1/2 may be the lowest you wanna go.

1.6" is about the lowest that you would want to go without having to adjust your camber. I have the 1.6" Eibach kit and Tokico Struts and my ride is as smooth as can be. My front wheels do not need any adjustment at all, but the rear wheels eventually do need a camber kit. I think they are off by 2 degrees. Wouldn't advise 2" at all unless you like scraping.
i usually go with eibach pro kit.. they dont lower the car a whole lot, typically 1.25ish i use koni struts, because the perch is movable allowing and extra .5 drop if u want.
as far as body roll springs will help, but swaybars are the key to keep that pig from rolling over in the corners {i dont mean roll over like flipping on its roof....} springs will help eliminate the nose from diving w hen u get on the binders {good}

i had goldline 2 inch drop on my clips with 15 inch rims.....the ride wasnt too bad but i did need new struts due to mine were already blown when i got it....anyway if you do go lower than 1.5 i really suggest gettin a camber kit....i didnt have a kit on my clips and my tires and uneven wear.....it handled pretty good though...well also i had sway bars....tie rods...and strut bars and i didnt bottom out.....like i said the only thing i needed was new struts but as for the lip....i'd stay with the 1.5.....

i had a set of ractive coilovers on my eclipse and they were slammed all the way down like 3 or 4 inches and i completely destroyed my shocks, and eventually the left front coilover sleeve split and broke all to hell. after that i got goldline springs and some new shocks and everything with my car is ship shape. the goldline springs drop it like 2 inches or so. i personally like the car really low with as little of a fender gap as possible. i don't have a camber kit so of course i have uneven wear, and i truthfully will probably never buy a camber kit for that car. just something that always slips my mind.

im lowering my car this spring, but im ordering my springs and all my other parts this winter so ill have everything when the weather breaks. but as for lowering my car. i was goign to buy the Tein lowering springs, but they only drop it like an inch and a half. i was wondering what the DSM guys on here think. would droppin it 2 inches look better and provide better performance, or would 1 and half inches be enough??

Well here's my two cents. I lowered mine with a set of eibach pro kit spings and threw on some tokico illumina's as well as a set of RM racing sway bars and some strut tower braces. After all that the car will pretty much stick to the corners...of course there is a point at which the tires give out not the suspension but the tires. Body roll is almost none evident.
