Default Clutch Problem

Alright guys....im driving a 99 civic ex coupe...everything is stock. Now just recently ive encountered a problem....When i go into first gear and accelerate...after it hits about 2.5-3000 RPM it makes this rattling and grinding sound. And then when i shift into second, for the msot part the rattling and grinding sound continues into third....about half way through third...it kinda stops and i dont hear it in 4th or 5th. But its getting worse....i bought a new oem clutch...juss havent installed it yet...but have any idea what the exact problem is?

a bearing that goes bad. when you change your clutch, drop the engine oil pan and splash guard, then look at the conecting rods where they hook to the crank and see if the bearings are sliding off like playdough. you can remove the caps to see how bad they are. if its not that then you might have a bad trany. i would have said the pilot bearing on the flywheel, but from what you say it does not sound like that is the problem. good luck

That sounds like either bad bearings or a bad tranny. Either way from they way you described it, it's not the clutch.
