If you're looking for somewhere to take your car detailed, try in the regional forums. This thread is for advice that people can put to use on their vehicles. I'll update the first post to reflect this.

I guess this would also apply to interior parts too.
I used to wax my plastics.

If your "whites" aren't white any more, try Welsey's Bleach White. You may wanna try Meguairs PlasTIX(or something like that). My bike had redfenders, and from where I've smacked trees, creeshes in the fender caused them to turn pink

I also put PAM on the underside of my fenders, it helped getting mud off; but if it was clay, no go.

God I miss my 80.

Back on topic.

i know alot of people know this, but always wash uni directional, never in circles, this goes for waxing too. any kind of debris you have on your wash mit, sponge, towel, or what have you will make swirl marks. never take your car through a gas station car wash, they are particularly harsh. its been said a million times i know

All that will do is have the scratches going in the same direction instead of in circles ... I guess that's better

What I do is use 2 buckets, one to hold the soap another with plain water. Using sponge in this example since it's probably the most common: dip sponge in soap, wash car, rinse sponge off in water, repeat. All you need to do is periodically change the water bucket with new water if your car is really dirty. No more putting a dirty sponge on the car

On my door, its a silver eclipse GS with factory paint, it looks almost as if someone took steel wool to it...has always been like that since I bought it. When I wax the car, it usually hides it for a while but it always comes back. Any suggestions?

i have to use it for polishing on everything i paint cause its wax free, same with the pad polish, it is a good product, have you tried the new Finesee SRC, its made for scratch resistant clearcoats that the new high end cars are coming out with, i used this to buff my car and it cut very well with the white foam pad, doesnt do so well with the regular grey pad but cut and polished really nice with the white pad since the white pad is made for cutting more and this stuff used on a regular type clearcoat was great, you should try it.
