The paddle shifters are an option for the MR edition....they will still have the 5 speed.
According to all the reviews of the X, the road course time is supposedly slightly faster than the IX. Since 99% are straighline performance minded, tell me how many will be keeping any of the cars stock?

Thats cool and all that they would have a 5 speed..but thats retarded that in order to have a "street car" feel, that you have to buy a "base" or "lower" model car.Im pretty sure a lot of people will want the MR edition, but not the "fagnesium paddle shifter" option.

To say driving the Evo wouldn't be fun is pure bullshit. I'm sure you'd be as giddy as a homosexual in a banana republic store once you pushed on the gas paddle of the Evo X.
Riiiight. The subaru community is very similar to the VW community. It's a very hippy company in a japanese way.
I agree with you about the "fagnesium paddle shifter" part. I wouldnt call the others lower models. The RS..aka stripped down version doesnt have much creature comforts because its purpose is to be tracked and most hardcore enthusiast strip out or modify (racing seats, wheels, etc), so they designed it to save cost. Now the 5 speed, GSR is a little better for straighline, due to the gearing difference (longer gearing in 4th), when compared to the 6-speed MR.
My Jeep is all the automatic fun I can handle, thanks.
Have you driven a car with paddle shifters? I have. granted it isn't as fun as shifting your own gears, i wasn't left unsatisfied. Go drive a vette with paddle shifters and then tell me you were bored.
