.. but it's a Pontiac car. Buick still has their own design team and marketing department. I imagine the GM-head-man just shoved a GTO in front of Buick and said "make this turbo and put GN badges on it". They should have just made a faster Regal GS. Those are some sleeper motherfuckers.

.. what? XR4Ti's were never badged as Fords.

edit: and different concept. If Buick was an off-spring of Pontiac, or Buick was a brand-new company just opened BY Pontiac, then yes, in that case, I would be able to see where you're coming from... or even if the XR4Ti had a long history of having absolutely nothing to do with Ford..

The one complaint that I have with GM in general is that they don't understand the whole "platform-sharing" concept. I fully understand why car companies build many cars based on the same platform. It's easier, quicker, and cheaper. But, shouldn't the cheaper manufacturing price be passed on to the customer? The GTO was already 6 years old before it ever came into existence. And, it appears the GNX will be on the same or a similar platform. For almost $40k I would expect a new car from the ground up.

this is a decent point. but it's actually NOT faster- well, not much anyway considering it's a v6 and 15 years of technology ahead of the 240 to run another tenth or two faster stock for stock. and an sr20det won't fit in it, which is one of the reasons the 240 is so widely popular.

so i guess it's NOT a good point after all.

btw sorry i lashed out like that. i have tourettes and haven't taken my meds this morning.

Because the current one isn't faster nor does it handle better than my 240sx. (I'm highly doubtful of your handling reference). That and the fact that it's a fwd platform. Furthermore, there is already such thing as a Hyundai Tiburon that was introduced in the US.
Now, in deference to your farcical hypothesis, if Nissan introduced a Hyundai-built 240sx, with a 2.4 liter, rwd motor that was faster and handled better than the last one produced, and it wasn't an exact duplicate of a currently produced vehicle (i.e. Crown Vic and Mercury Marauder), I would defintely consider driving one if I liked the way it looked. If it looked as good as some of the other ones, I would very likely buy one.

Ok. '05 Miata. Mazda's gonna give 'em to Nissan to put 240SX badges on.

Would you buy it, and if so, why would you not buy a Miata?

whichever one looked better, and was not ridiculously overpriced over the other. seriously. brand loyalty is a thing of the past (especially with me).

Quickest one I could find. I've seen these around.

As far as the rest, once again, I don't see how it matters whether or not the Buick-badged car rolls off a Pontiac line or a Buick one (if one exists). They're still both GM cars that share the same platform.
