No matter what the problem someone has, people always go back to Subaru's amazing cars and if treated properly are wonderfully durrable. I blew my second gear to shreads because I was a dumbass. I know someone who runs low 12's (in CO at 6k elevation) on his stock 03 tranny in a wagon, it just depends on how you drive it. Not really much more I can add that hasn't been said. Get a Subaru and join Nasioc, will be the best decision you ever made lol.
Oh and one warning, the tuning bug is going to hit you like a truck the second you get home in your new car or go to a Suby meet.

I was told by Andrew himself that this is highly unlikely to happen. Kienan and myself are running dogboxes on completely stock diffs. I wouldn't have a 6k gearset anywhere close to something that could destroy it. Possible, yes. I will just never run sticky enough tires to stress the diffs or axles too much. I'd rather deal with 1.8 60ft's and tire spin like a mofo than a broken diff and gearset.

im confused as to why your selling your civic cause you say you cant afford the payment, yet are buying a much more expensive wrx haha.....i love both the 03 and 04's, i had an 03 and loved it, but i also really like the 04 front end. and apparantly trannys are stronger, which was always a concern of mine in the 03 cause them janks are not cheap.
