Question Whats the best intercooler for a WRX ?

Another Question for WRX people; intercoolers TMIC or FMIC? , what brand? . Cost is about the same by the time you add new scoop , splitter, and water spray to the TMIC. Performance is what Im looking for, I can work around the lag with a FMIC, but flow caracteristics of the various Intercoolers are not always posted by the manufacturers.

Depends on what kind of driving you're going to be doing. Bar and plate have a low pressure drop but they don't cool as well as a tube and fin. So if you're going to be mainly drag or auto-x I'd get a bar and plate. Tube and fin is better for road racing and highway romps.

TMIC or FMIC is mostly dependant on what size turbo you want. If it's not going to be very large then the TMIC is what I'd go with because of its better throttle response. Once you get above a certain size there just isn't enough room for a TMIC that will be big enough.

So in short there's no one "best" intercooler for any car

Twelves, I'm running the stock turbo right now, in 2-3 months I'll have the funds to swap then I think I'll go with the APS SR30, unless I find something better. I've been thinking of a FMIC 'cause I know that eventually I'll pull the engine, to bore and stroke it. But thats about two years away.

ENG, I drive my rex very hard, I don't abuse it trying to spin tires or jambing gears, but I'm on the gas hard, stop light to stop light. Iwill be going to the dragstrip eventually to see what she'll do.

SR30 and prolonged periods of hard driving... I'd say go with a low pressure drop fmic.
