Welded or VLSD
to expand on the previous post....
If your looking for a road racing and drift car only, go with welded. No doubt about it.
If your looking for a car just to drive on the street, go with VLSD or S15 LSD.

Road race= LSD
Drifting= LSD or Welded diff
Daily= 1.5 way or VLSD
eugene: ppl say the same thing about 2 ways under steering on turns. We obviously do not experience this because we get used to the new dynamics of the car and compensate our driving for it. I've driven on welded diffs and they feel just like driving a 2 way to me. I've never road raced on a welded with slicks which obviously make a huge difference but i dont think its going to be so terrible to the point where the driver can't even turn the car. Many grass root road racers run welded BTW. It's an excellent alternative to a 2 way LSD.
but going back to the point of this thread... if you do not intend for your car to be a serious track only race car, don't look into 2 way LSDs or welded diffs. Stick with something OEM and simple.

You heard wrong. I hate my welded diff, daily. Burns through tires, a bitch to pull into parking spots, pushes on regular turns. Ill be ordering a kaaz or tomei soon..
This is all about traction. If you want to have traction when road racing and street driving, get a limited slip or keep the diff open. If you want to easily break traction for drifting, get it welded or get a 2 way LSD. A welded diff on the street is just asking for a headache and too much tire wear.
If you talk to someone with a LSD that says it understeers as bad as a welded/spooled diff, their LSD is not adjusted properly. There is no arguing that. It's too tight, and it's driving both wheels instead of allowing a speed differential like it should. It's not fair to criticize something that isn't working properly.
