Default Welded or VLSD

I'm trying to figure out what to do and wanted some input from people that have done either. I have a '91 240sx with the sr20det and wanted a tighter rear end.

Weld diff for daily use will suck. If is just a track car then @#$%it. I would get a j30 95-96 vlsd. You will be happy with ist perfomance and wont effect daily use.

Nothing like a welded diff in the rain to make things really interesting. Have fun with that, make sure your insurance is paid up.

I have a welded diff. and have no problems in the rain or with driving. But the drive train does take a beating from it with the daily driving. It can also be pretty aggravating when the suspension is to full hard or full soft. I would only recommend it as a supplement for a 2-way that you have on order. Ill probably never do another one.

im a big fan of the J30's, drive a car with a welded diff before you do yours.

Considering that you break traction with at least one driven wheel every time you turn with a welded diff, it's not the greatest thing for the street. The drivetrain stress will be worse with good tires, etc., because of that also.

just find the helical lsd WITH the s15 output shafts. Just swap all of that into your pumpkin with your ring and pinion. But i suggest taking it to a shop to make sure it is shimmed correctly, or else you will lose teeth after a year or so. The hardest part is finding the parts. Check japandyno.com , i just ordered my s15 3.69 ring & pinion from there.
