Ticket in norfolk
im not from around the area, but i got stopped on highway 64 in norfolk for going 21 over. well, everyone was doing about the same speed, cop decided to stop me and give me a reckless, and i live in nova. court date's jan 11th, is anyway to lower the charge? just call the number and pay it? or drive 3 hours down there and goto court?
I bet the cop won't show up to court, since you are from NoVA. I'd go just incase he doesn't show up. Tell the judge what happened and he might drop the reckless and you just will pay the speeding ticket.

no.
No? Quite often cops don't show up to court. I've had a few friends have their tickets lowered because of a cop not showing up. He has an even better chance if its his first ticket, which he didn't say if it was or wasn't.

I exagerated the often part, but it has happened to probably 3 of my friends. Maybe one person had it happen twice or something, I can't remember now, but its happened multiple times to my friends. It does happen, you've just been unlucky enough for it to not happen to you. Maybe its a VaB thing though, since 90% of my friends live in VaB.

continue as many times as humanly possibly for whatever reason. thats the only way the cop will have to work around YOUR schedule and may not have time in his day to service you.
Your best bet is to get your car's speedometer calibrated, and to take the certificate with you to court. If it's off more than like 5 mph, they will give you an improper equipment ticket instead of speeding, which is a moving violation, and adds points to your driving record.
