First off, no..................a gixxer 750 is NOT, repeat NOTa good starter bike.

And look at it like you would a car? Body damage and rust? I'm not sure what you're meaning here.....................Bikes are plastic; save for the motor and frame and such. And unless it's been sitting out in the rain and standing water has been left on it it's not gonna have rust.

You should be concerned with the engine, tranny, clutch, brakes, frame not bent, rims not bent/dinged................stuff that has to do with the handeling and performance of the bike; as well as safety.

As for 7k as a GOOD used bike price??????????????? WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?

A BRAND NEW 600 sportbike is 8k; so you're way off dude.

man you get so defensive when people talk about the wrong bikes and shit...god damn..chill the hell out.

The reason he does this is because inexperienced noobs go buy 1000cc bikes and kill themselves a month later. It gives our community of riders a bad name. IMHO I wish the M liscense was setup like in Europe. You HAVE to start on a small bike and log in so many miles before you can advance.
A noob buying anything greater than 600cc's is an idiot. Its like putting a go-kart racing 12 yearold in an INDY car. It wont turn out good.
So you my friend should chill the heck out.

I agree. But 600 is kinda small. Even for some beginners. Like me. Im 245lbs. Me on a 600, would be incredibly slow. LOL

600's are not small at all for a starter bike no matter how much you weigh. Even with a 250lb guy on it, it will still haul ass.

Hehehe, this thread is funny. Some of these people have no clue what they are talking about. Goto cycle corner and read most of the things that are posted there. Though some of us in there disagree about 600 starter bikes, we all agree that anything higher than that would spell disaster on the roads.

Im gonna say, before you even get a bike: TAKE THE RIDING CLASS!!

I started out on an R6 and my first time on a bike was at the class, it was a nighthawk 250 i believe. For my first time being on a bike, they had power, just cause i wasnt used to riding a bike. 10 hours of riding on those things made me feel confident riding period. Then i picked up the R6, and that shit put the fear in me the first time i opened up the throttle. So those people who think 600's are weak are crazy. You get a CBR600RR, ZX-6R, R6, GSXR600 and you will feel intimidated the first time you get on it.

I put 1000 miles on it in just under 2 weeks just riding around non stop. IMO, i feel that if you have never been on a bike before and you take the class and absorb everything you need to know to keep yourself alive, then you can start out on damn near anybike you choose, HOWEVER, the lower cc bikes are more forgiving than than anything above 600 (and even they can be unforgiving, especially when compared to those lower than them).

And 7k for a used bike Like what was said b4, a new 600cc bike is 8k, so unless someone has just bought a brand new bike and is turning around and selling it 3 months later, that price is just too much.

No offense Z, but I'm going to use this as the example of why I seem so pissed when it comes to this subject.................

I weigh in at 205-215 depending on the day, I ride a 4 year old CBR600F4, and the bike is MORE than enough for me and I've been riding for 12+ years!!!!!!!!

A "beginner" bike is just that; a bike for a BEGINNER!!!!!!!

Anyone with riding experience and a level head on their shoulders will know where I'm coming at the least; and most I'm sure hold the same opinion I do.

When you're on a vehicle that can put you on your ass in a heartbeat there's no reason to add fuel to the flame by getting an even BIGGER bike........

I'll use the car thing as an example again; when I have a son and he turns 16 and we get his license, the first car I ever put him behind the wheel of is NOT gonna be a VIPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why would I do that? Would you do that to your son? I hope not. He would need to work his way up to that car.

So why reccomend this to someone else? When there are no air bags, seatbelts for any protection? It's two wheels and an engine!!!!!!
