I'm Nate.

I'm actually starting back up on my side job's again. I finally have "SOME" time to get around to them but i still have a few cars on my "to do list" that are behind such as sung's....tawny's...jenn's lip and a few others. Gotta remember i do this for a living as of now, so getting off work...then painting more cars just kills me. It's like working 20 hr days and shit. If you're willing to wait ....i'll be more than glad to hook you up. Problem is, i dont know "how" long you'll have to wait I wont warranty my paint work if you get it tefloned before 6months. That shit seals the clear coat pores and causes the clear to flake off over time if it hasnt fully cured. Paint cures for the inside out (from my sealer, to my clear coat)It's actually a waste of money.

I had a bad experiance with Macco on Tidewater drive. There paint was peeling of the car before i even got to pick it up, then tried to tell me it was my fault because i had primered that spot (though i paided for them to primer it). After much wasted time and talks with managers, they sanded it clean, knocked out my body work, redid it all for $200 more. Total of $650. They did a really bad job the second time around and didnt clear coat over it well or tape well. I would NEVER use them again.

Exactly, you do your own prep work, a lot of body shops WILL NOT warranty their paint. Whether it be a 2000$ job or a 300$ job.

my brother got a maaco paint job(sunburst yellow or sumthin) on his old talon. He did the prepwork himself and brought it in, tipped the guy $20 before and after, paintjob looked great. Took it to the one off Military hwy, if I was gettin a paintjob id go there.

What exactly is involved in prepping a car for a paint job? Is it hard to do or something that can easily be messed up learning?
