Legal questions concerning this vehicle ('92 Efini RX7)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT
Hello all, my question is concerning the ability to import this car from Japan. I'm not familiar with all of the customs regulations and such, but I am looking at buying this as a show car. Could anyone offer advice on this situation? The car is in mint shape by the photos, and that is why I'm not sure why it would be difficult to import.

Second:
In the add it does say thanks but no thanks to us bidders so why even try to buy this car?
Third:
Its a canadian car not jaydeem.
Fourth:
Why not buy a rx7 here and not pay a ass load of money in glass, pannels and other B.S when you can buy two for the cost It would be to import that one.
Last:
Are you trying to turn it into a butterfly door getto masterpiece ie "show car". If so then buy something no one will care about. Like a cav.

you can definitely find a much better example of a 3rd gen here in the states. If you are getting it for mad tyte jdm rhd status then your a fool. All it's gonna do is attract cops and other sorts of unwanted attention.
Also don't even try and say you going to keep it stock. While it may have been fast in 92 it is slow as molasses against any modern vehicle. First time you try and race something that is made in this decade and it hands you your ass on a silver platter.... poof there goes the stock setup in favor of something a little more powerful.
The only other thing I see about that car the sets it apart for the US FDs is the lack of a sunroof. Which even then someone can just claim you filled it in.
If you really want something special then try and find a 97+ or 99+ FD and import that. Then you'll have something to impress your mad tyte jdm friends. But good luck on finding those or even importing them or the first one into the states.

This point is debatable, the Canadians can import these cars with minimal hassle from Japan and they often cost much less than buying the same car that was imported when it was new.
It very well could be a "JDM" car in Canada. Now if you could then bring it into the US is a whole other matter.
Japan's laws are protectionist of it's domestic industries. Taxes force older cars to be sold off and new ones to be bought. For years these cars were dumped into Australia & New Zealand until fairly recently these countries passed their own laws to keep from turning in to Japan's junkyard. Canada has a rolling year period and fairly lax import laws. So recently Japanese cars made in the mid-90s can be imported.
I have a friend in Canada that picked up a 1995 Supra TT for $8,500 USD.
