haha .. so true

back in the early 90's when big parties ruled the scene you would see turntablist in the Drum and Bass tents, and they never seem to draw the same crowd as the main rooms. I once saw craze in houston at an outdoor party and after about 10 minutes of his technical beatjuggling and very difficult scratches i would get bored standing around and go back to the main area and dance my butt off..

Dont get me wrong those guys are highly skilled and can do things the guys in the top 100 dj charts could never do.

I guess that's what I was getting at. Beyond music genres or dancing period. And again I wasn't looking at it from a consumers point of view but ,as a dj, a skills point of view. I understand Djing at it's core is to entertain the masses but when you say top 100 "rocking the party" should be only one the factors in determining that ranking. But from a fan number point of view I definitely where you're coming from. Forget the turntablism, I just thought there was more to it to determine who the best was even within the "EDM" world then just people's choice. Thanks for the knowledge WURM.

I thought this was just understood. I didn't think I had to mention turntablism isn't for dancing. I'm no backpacker, I wan't telling you the masses should be tuning into the next DMC final, so they can shake their funky groove thang. It's an elitist activity. More of a talent vs. gift sorta thing.

She played a great set last night, lots of energy and she worked the crowd quite a bit, well as much as she could from her perch high above the crowd.

What would I have done differently:

TURN THE FUCKING BASS UP!!!! They have like 10 HUGE boxes there but hardly anything coming out of them. The sound system there is amazing, its nice and clear, but has a serious lack of bass.

Put The DJ on the stage when its someone other than the house DJ, people paid to come see/hear DJ Irene play, but all you could see the whole time was the top of her mohawk.

Most grown folks work friday mornings, no need to have the headlining DJ come on to play at midnight, try a bit earlier.
