http://www.djirene.net/site/ Definitely one of the baddest House/Hard house DJ's out there. She will be playing tonight at Premiere on Granby St. http://premierenorfolk.com/
Doors open @ 9:00PM
She will come on around midnight
Doors close @ 2:00AM
Who's going?? I will be there for sure, probably around 10 or 11.

not me.. I have seen that woman way to many times and I met her once and she was a bitch. Shes also a fat ugly lesbian dike, plus I am not a hard house fan all that much so no I will not be there.
Did you hear Portia Surreal (http://www.portiasurreal.com/ *NSFW Warning on the pics) will be coming to Premiere? Norfolk had a problem with the belly dancers so there is no way they will allow her to bring her show. no offense to anyone who likes Portia but I could give a crap about talentless DJ's, no matter how hot they are.

They need to bring this guy to Premiere, Paolo Mojo, He was touring with Sasha a few months ago and opening up for him during his Fundacion residencies in NYC over the last 6 months. I saw him with Sasha in Charlotte few months ago and he was freaking awesome and had the crowd going just as much as Sasha did..
He has appeared on John Digweeds Kiss100 Guest show, Toured with Sasha, played at some of the biggest events, Recorded Essential mixes with Radio one, played at turnmills, pacha, ibiza, etc. Listen to some of his recorded sets in the audio section. He is one of my new favorite DJ's

I think that if I could have one DJ in the world come play it would be Johan Gielan.
I have discs from both sasha and digweed and its just to elevatorish for me, but I will check out the others.

Sasha and Digweeds style is minimalistic and enjoyable for me. Which is the way I play, I get tired of throwing hit after hit on the decks.. I like starting out high go deep break it up with breakbeat, go deep again and come out high energy..
Someone else I would like to see Premiere bring would be Hernan Cattaneo, that would be insane if they could get him..

What exactly sets these djs apart to the point where there could be a number one ranking. I understand all the intricacies of the art but is it really just record selection,...eq manipulation,.......64 bar transitions,.......pace.......mixing technique?
I understand it was a magazine poll..........but how could you have a top 100 and not mention a turntablist anywhere.
Aside from personal style (every dj has a certain style) what's the draw to see a DJ Irene........is it merely the songs she'll be playing? Is there a party atmosphere invovled too, or do you just sit and watch. Do they produce and spin their own stuff?
I mean I know why I'd pay to see a DJ Qbert showcase.....but why a Tiesto? I mean he's the best Dj in the world.....I'm like "the world, damn!".
There's 2 ways to look at this, I'm taking it from a DJ's perspective and I'm just talking about skills period..........not the genre of music being played.

I wish PVD would come here, but that would never happen
Good questions man..
To me its all about what makes a dj great is certain qualities such as:
1. Skill
2. Energy, attitude towards fans
3. Able to work the room, change gears during a show
4. Dj's personal style.. whats hot with EDM fans at the time whether its prog trance or house
4. Does he produce, remix, and how good are they at that?
5. What does he bring to the EDM world?
Those polls are based on people voting on their favorite djs according to their taste, some may like Hard House some Prog trance. Go to a Tiesto show and tell me it wasnt insane! He draws upwards of 100,000 people in Argentina, Ibiza, Spain, etc..
You like the turntablist side of electonic music which is great as well and Q-bert, Craze, all those guys have mad skills but the following isnt as large and thats why they are not on that list.
Edit: Check out what Sasha is doing these days, he is not using turntables or cd decks. He is revolutionizing the DJ world by using a Mac/Apleton Live software/Controllers and playing a true DJ set where he can remix /redit sounds, loops, etc on the fly and create anything at any moment in his set. No set records or tunes just straight up creativity on the fly, its insane.

Don't get me wrong. Qbert is really good at turntabalism, but I would never pay to see him at a club. I go to a club to dance not stand and stare at a turntabalist play with their reverse hamster switch all night.
