Discount Auto Sound - Lynnhaven = Horrible customer service
A friend of mine recently bought a stinger battery from the Newport News (Jeffereson Ave) location, and something went wrong with the battery, it died on him. So he took the location closest to him (lynnhaven) and they refused to even look at the battery for him. Saying that he needs to go back to the Newport News location. WTF. It shouldn't matter what DAS you bought it from, they are all linked. The "manager" Sean (shawn?) was being a total dick. This is not how you treat a customer who spent more then 2K at the store.
After fighting for 30 mins and verifying with the NN store (all it did was make a phone call.. not more then that) he found a replacement battery in the store but then refused to replace it because my friend didn't have his receipt on him. WTF? after all that trouble, he is was being a dick about this? That's an expensive ass battery. Then my friend requested him to look in his records to see if he can get a copy, but shawn declined claiming they got a "new" computer system. WHAT BULLSHIT??
While my friend was waiting at the DAS Lynnhaven, another customer was getting alot of work done to his car too and he requested shawn if he could take him back there to look at his car being worked on and maybe take some pics and shawn refused, claiming he didn't want the customer to see the car torn apart. WTF? Are they trying to hide something back there? Maybe they fucked something up and are trying to cover it. i would not be surprised, i have heard so many horror stories about shops breaking things behind the dash and covering it up.
Never seen such terrible service in my life. I would never recommend this store to anybody!

I've worked at a couple stereo shops and we rarely allowed customers in the back to see their car when it was torn apart. I know it may be hard for you to understand (if you've never worked at a shop) but customers freak out when they see their car in the middle of an opporation.
For the record, I've also spent thousands on equipment with DAS and they won't take won't replace my stuff either without a receipt.

oh god, i HATE DAS. those store SUCK ass. I just wish that everyone knew they sell their items for retail price. That means that you can buy it cheaper ANYWHERE else!
I would NEVER recommend that anyone buy from there. I myself have also gotten nothing but horrible CS from DAS, esp when you know a lil sum sum about mobile audio & video.

As far as the receipt is concerned, that's not what bothered me the most, but the fact that he didn't want to replace it because it was bought in the newport news store and suggested that my friend drive all the way to newport news from va. beach to replace it. WTF???
And his attitude is just horrible, he acts like he is the manager, when in fact one of his co-workers told us that he isn't one but likes to act like he is.
Bottom line: he is a being a dick for no reason.
Also, any -smart- business owner/manager should not allow a customer to see their car while it's in the middle of being worked on for exactly the reason which was already mentioned (it's unsettling to most customers regardless if they show it and/or say it) Plus, if it is being worked on, no installer likes a customer over their shoulder, regardless of how "innocent" the customer believes they are. Then there is the insurance issue, do you know its not unheard of for a business to spend $2,000 - $4,000 per MONTH for insurance (worker, shop, product and customer)?
A receipt is a proof of purchase just about anywhere you go, so it should come to no surprise that they will not replace it without a receipt. The fact that he called another store without asking for a receipt is perhaps his bad, but, it sounds as though he tried. I'd also be curious what happened to this battery, typically batteries don't just go bad as they are computer controlled load tested before they even leave the manufacturer.
I retract my "no offense" statement, because, seriously, sounds like some information is missing and that you're one of those customers that are never satisfied until a business losses money. I could be wrong, it certainly wouldn't be the first time.
i dont like any of them... i went in there... they sold my numerous parts i didnt need, were very blunt and rude....
i've had a bad experience with both of them.

I can relate on some of the other stuff you have mentioned. however, As a Business owner I would hope this is not a employee/owner/manager from that store saying this statement. In mine and any other business, revenue is revenue. You work for your customers, regardless if they spend 2k or 20k they are still to be treated with respect and given equal customer service. Thats not to say you cant give the guy that blows 50k in your store a little more, but 2k should be none less than average. They can goto any other store and spend that $2k, they are not privledged to be in your store. you as an owner are privledged to do business with them.
Atleast this is how i operate. i understand not every SBO does. this is why there are always opportunitys for new companies to give it a shot. Becasue old ones shut down for these reasons.
PS excuse my spelling and grammer
