As much as I love my country, that land will be perfect for a road course. I have a bidder in the works.

From what I understand, they are highly doubtful on closing Oceana, because it would cost 500million to build a new base somewhere else in order to do all the training they do there.

 

They arnt going to close Oceana so get off that idea. I like how he says its closing when nothing at all has been reported to that extent.

 

Is it over ? Did everyone give up ? Can I say "I told ya so!" yet ?

Well, I work on Oceana, been here for 3 years now. As for building another base, no, it will be moved back to Cecil Field, in FL. The reason its closing is because of the noise. Our jets cannot run any higher than idle after 10 pm, however some do. And from what i understand, the Navy would have to buy up the properties in the flight path to stay open. This includes Lynnhaven Mall. Doubt thats gonna happen....
Not a bad idea, but this town wont let that happen, besides, if this base closes, think of what this place will be like without all the people here. Tourism alone cannot keep VB alive...

i didnt read thru all of the posts..

but im sure like many others.. i'd much rather pay a bit to 'play legally' at a track in the area.
