I got away with doing part time drafting for a semester a few years ago in northern VA, only because I was working there full time already. I was also yelled after i showed my boss my school schedule after i deliberately remember him saying my education is important.
I have a job doing miniCAD(vector works) and some other small stuff and I don't get chump change its all about where you live and work and what resources you have.

If you're a full time student don't fight the system. Go through the school's co-op program for summer jobs. During the semester.. do like most other students and get student loans so you have time to study. Believe me, some employers will make payments on your student loans after you graduate.

lol for what i will be doing i wont be doing cad i dont think. More along the line of surveying and such. Not sure yet though if i'm going to do that or check drawings and such. But then again cad is outdated now compared to catia at the shipyard. Atleast where i would go.

I'm doing a co-op program haha . I go work next semester, get credits and paid pretty good money. ( for being 18 ) No need for loans, NGNN pays school upfront.

NGNN is a great company for individuals that are trying to go to school since NGNN pays for it all if you make good grades. I worked there for 4 years in building 902 as an HVAC designer. I can't count how many people worked there and went to school at the same time. I believe the only set back is that if you do use them to pay for your school, you have a probation period you must stay employed with them for a certain amount of time. I believe most individuals I have spoke to have had to stay for two years. But hell, work and get payed and have your school loan payed for. Go for it!!
