talk to your councler if your still in school about new horizans auto tech class take that for a year then that summer you can do a summer mentorship and actually learn and decide if you actually want to work on cars for a living, thats what i did.
unlikely that they will hire a 16 year old kid
try to find relatives, friends of family that own a car shop
or ask you parents to ask around....if its meant to be then its meant to be
try a lot attendent at some dealership like hall nissan or chevy or something. Its an easy job, you get paid anywhere form 7-9 bucks an hour and you get to drive cars that u can only dream of owning at your age...(i.e 350Z, Corvette, Charger, Evo, Sti, etc.) Im 18 and im a lot attendent at hall nissan and all i do is park the cars that sales people move and go gas up cars that are sold. Its laid back, easy, and you can drive the shit out of the cars when you get out of the site of the dealership. You need a licence and a relativly clean driving record tho.
I would go take some of the basic courses at a community college on automotive repair so you have a decent idea of how a car works. This is better than learning from some high school dropout, with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, how to weld a muffler on.
yeah im takin classes at TCC for auto tech...its a 2 year course and you get an associates in auto technology, they also have performance classes over the summer. You chould check that out, its prety cool. We work on our professors car (he races for honda challenge) and as he teaches he uses the motor out of his integra on a stand to explain.

lol, yeah, i no what you mean. I went to blanchards on hwy17 to get a bolt takin off of one of ym calipers because it was torqued down and stripped and in the 10 minutes it was there they (for no reason) checked under my hood and tried to charge me to fix the " coolant leak"...i looked at him a about kicked him in his nuts...it was a stain on the block that he thought was wet
