Default The transformation has started...

From suburb white kid, to redneck.

That's my "new" vehicle. 1998 Toyota Tacoma SR5 TRD Extended Cab. Has 81,000 miles, 4cyl 16valve 150hp 5speed. It runs well, but has a bad whirring sound coming from the back. I don't see a supercharger on it, but there is a loud whistling coming from the engine. Other than that, I love it. For those that don't know, TRD is the Off-roading package with upgraded suspension parts. The SR5 means it has cruise control, A/C, power windows/locks. It has a Rear locking diff button which is pretty damn cool. The guy that owned it towed his harley's with it. So it has the usual Harley stickers w/ Harley tow hitch on the back. I'll be bringing it to Radford next semester.

Here is my mom's brand new 2006 Toyota Solara. 225hp - Automatic but it has that shifttronic where you can "drive" it like a manual. It's a v6, has some decent power too. Very "girly" on the inside, but it's nice. Shitty pic, I know.

pre-runner or 4x4? it's not a "v4", it's a 4 cylinder.

I didn't feel like typing it out, so it's a v4 to me. It's a 4x4, not the prerunner. Has two sticks, the manual stick for shifting gears, then a shorter one for changing it to High4, High2, Low4. So basically it's 2WD for 90% of the time I'm driving it.

Couldn't you just pop the hood and find that out?

I popped the hood and saw that it was 4 cylinders.. 16 valve, and then a sticker on the bottom of the hood said 2.7 Liters. My "v4" typing was a mistake, they are not in a V. I had just woken up. :-\

The paint is almost flawless. Guy said it was garage-kept, and I can tell. Tires have been on there for 30,000 miles.. but plenty of tread left. Which leads me to believe that this truck was really only used when he needed to haul the bikes somewhere. Problem is, I am the 3rd owner. The first owner had it for 50k. It runs though, that's all that matters.

Well, "4V" would be true, because it is 4 valves per cylinder. Could be that it says 4V on there somewhere.....

Says absolutely nothing about how many cylinders it has. i used a website to figure out that there is a 2.4L 4cyl, 2.7L 4cyl, and 3.x 6cyl. also, when I popped the hood, I noticed 4 black small tubes on top of the valve cover. Figured.. 4 tubes, 4 cylinders. No idea what they are, but my reasoning is usually right. Call me a n00b.

**edit** Now that I think about it, I believe the hoses are coolant hoses. Feel free to inform me.
