Coming from someone who used to drive 460 every day, take 64 - 81. This time of year, 460 is full of cops. And, while it may be shorter distance-wise, there are many parts where the speed limit is lower.

I usually go to VA Beach at lease once a month and 64 to 295 to 64 to 81 is the quickest way. Especially if you can get to 295 with out any problems at the tunnel or with construction. But once you get out of VA Beach its smooth sailing. Normally takes 4 hours (give or take 15 minutes) doing the speed limit and 3 1/2 hours if you fly, to get to Roanoke.
