Thanks for the vote of confidence guys! I have plenty of experience moderating high traffic forums, so I'm definitely up to the challenge.

There are several people other than myself that I would consider nominating but it's hard to gauge who's still around these days. It seems like some of the regulars have either started lurking or just don't get on as much anymore.

 

Exactly. My concern isn't that some people wouldn't be good for the job, my concern is that the moderators need to have been active in this section over long periods of time. The only person that comes to mind is you. I know, we'll get "well ill post here more often if I'm a mod"... I think that's flawed. Really, 1 moderator is probably enough for the volume here... as long as that moderator checks in frequently to clear things up.

 

I agree that Western is relatively dead aside from the new spike of Harrisonburg posters, but there have been several situations where I'm sure I wasn't the only one that had to report a post to have it taken care of for one reason or another. We do need moderation even if no other reason than for structure.

Posting seems to pick up more during the colder months anyway. I'm sure we'll have some new people join, and hopefully some more activity.

 

I think we need someone that is not bias. I would hate to see special privileges given to those that are friends with the new moderator.

 

What special priviledges? The only priviledge that a moderator (emphasizing that the spot is for a moderator, not an admin) could really give someone is letting people get away with something that others would not get away with. That's just silly...
