You need to pick a safer spot to do your highway pulls.. I've been seeing troopers at that spot on 581 almost every day on my way to work.

That'd definitely be fun. Danny was telling me about what all you've been doing with your setup. It looked clean Friday night!

I saw one the other day while coming back from downtown. He was sitting on that grassy field to the right on that stretch of 581. Retard had KA blazing, so I caught it right around the Wonju/Towers mall exit...So I had plenty of time to get within the speed limit. It's too easy around here, VA cops (more specifically Roanoke Co./City) are so unassuming when it comes to radar detector users...They just troll around with their units on, warning anyone with an RD that they're comin!

Late week nights are usually the best. Like 12-1am on any week night. They generally don't post up to catch high-speeders.

I have definitely never encountered any instant on's or anything tricky like many police do in other states. I generally have way too much time to slow down around here with the V1.

I agree. Do you still run the V1? I used to have it until I got caught by the undercover cop here in Roanoke County. He picks up V1s now... Be careful!

I then opted for the Bel STi and i've never had issues since.

I loved the V1. It was a great RD!

Yeah, I still run that baby. Yeah, the V1 can be detected from 166ft away while many others are over 100ft. Check this site. Its the only one with that sort of distance besides the STi. So I just turn it off once I get a real alert until I pass him. Cuz 95% of the time I have well over 166ft of early warning. The only thing I have to worry about is police that have their RDD's on and not their radar guns!
I one day may opt for the STi. Maybe when I get caught! Ha.

Did he take your V1 or did you just get the ticket?

Yeah I did that very thing...but when you're in a yellow sports car, its not difficult for them to determine which car the detector is in.

I would turn it off around them as well, but this guy rides around in a dark unmarked car; and doesn't always have his radar on. When he does have it on, it's KA. But that afternoon he didn't have it on, and he was following me. I finally picked up that it was an unmarked car, so I turned it off...but then a few minutes later he pulled me over, walks up to my window and goes "so where's your radar detector...?" I knew right then he had gotten me!

So the next day I sold it on the radar detector forum for $350. And I picked up the STi for $450. I have never had any issues with that one now, I've even passed the same cop before with the STi on and he hasn't given me a second glance.

It's a good investment. The ticket was like $96 I think, ohwell. He just wanted to know where the detector was; they can't confiscate them like a lot of people say they do, it's bs.

Right on, good to know about the confiscating, that's really all I was worried about. Yeah, the good thing about the V1 is their excellent resell value! So the STi wouldn't end up costing me that much! I just wish the STi had some sort of concealed display like the V1. I like not having to worry about someone seeing it on and I like being able to put the screen right in front of me instead of over to the side.
Basically, those reasons aren't good enough to chance a ticket.... Maybe I should sell it... Hmm... I'll think about it once I stop crying about it.

haha yeah, I have mine hardwired and mounted in the upper left corner of my windshield. Right near/behind the visor. Works great! If a cop is nearby, I just fold my visor down and it hides the RD.

Good idea. I was thinking about putting like a 2 inch or so band of tint on the top of my windshield and then cut out a rectangle where the front of the RD is... Who knows. I will see.
I'm sure it wont be a problem anyways if I get the STi.
