Hmmm... as someone who did the whole "kit car" thing a few years back, I highly encourage you to rethink it. If you can even find insurance (most companies won't cover it, even though they say they will) it will cost you an arm and a leg.

I had a Factory Five Cobra for about 6 months. Got it built, got it running, and then sold it. Couldn't get insurance for less than $350 a month (clean driving record, was married at the time, over 25, etc.). I also couldn't get it inspected, even though they issue a VIN for it.

But, it's your money. Just do the research before you buy it...

Good to know.

Ive kicked around the idea of building a cobra kit since Ive wanted one from way back and I assumed that once it was issued a VIN that there wouldnt be much hassle getting it inspected and insurance wouldnt be any worse than a vette....guess I was wrong.

If you dont mind me asking what was the issue with getting it inspected? I mean Factory Five was one of the more desirable names in kit cars to have last time I checked...right up there with Superperformance so it wasnt like their stuff was junk/cobbled togeather.

Damn.....that just ruined my day now that I think about it. My retirement/last project was going to be a Cobra kit car. I was thinking a ~2800lb car+a mild 600hp boosted small block=geriatric myclone having some fun (well, having some fun until I stuffed it into a ditch while showing off )

And then some. I couldn't stop laughing about a consulting business. He couldn't manage Magic City Ford as a "General Sales Manager" which he or his father gave to him. I know quite a few people there and he was on a regular basis the butt of the jokes. I guess titles are not earned these days.
Those who know him will know what I am talking about.

So you guys are saying he is only successful because of his dad and grandfather? I don't see how he could do what he does with what they had.
