heard in harrisonburg and other places out west emissions is not required on certain vehicles? is this true...i have a 1988 vehicle

Emissions is "required" most everywhere. I can't think of anyone in this area that actually checks emissions though. I'm assuming Harrisonburg will be the same way.

 

I have never heard of the testing for emmisions here. I har to fix leaky exhaust a few times. If my first MK1 MR2 could pass inspection then anything can here lol

I've never had emissions tested on any inspection and I've been all over the state.

 

Yeah none of my cars or my families cars have ever had to be emission tested around here.

 

My car has a sticker that says low emissions vehicle... Good enough for me... Just don't look under the car or under the hood and we'll be aight...

 

In the last 10 years that I've lived here never heard of emission testing or have seen it.

so if i am re-registering my car i dont need an emissions test???? i dont get it....im pretty sure dmv requires emissions cuz they definitely do in nova....am i wrong?

 

Yes, we register our cars out in the country, but the cars go through inspection at Nova. We just tell them to only do the safety inspection, not the emissions and there hasn't been a problem.

To be honest, I believe there are only 4-5 counties in NOVA that actually require emissions testing, pretty much every other county in the rest of Virginia do not require it.
