Does anyone 'cruise' around Williamson anymore?
I'm glad to here how amazing the "scene" is in FL.
Street racing is just ignorant. Going "10 to 70" on the interstate is just as stupid as the majority of the morons on Williamson. Just because you think your being safer doesn’t mean you are. I’ve been out and watched some idiot in there fast car about kill someone because they didn’t know how to drive there “high hp” setup.

All racing has risks doesnt matter where you do it. Track just takes away some of the variables that you run into on the street.
BUT there is a big problem with this area. There aren't any decent tracks within a good distance around Roanoke. Both Shelor and NB are a good distance away and furthermore they arent even a full quarter. And as far as tracks go VIR is about 2hrs away.
However if a bunch of people want to go down and rent the kart track at VIR for a few hours I'd be down for that.
If the police dept actually cracked down on the idiots that hotdog on Williamson Rd then it might actually not be so bad. Racing on that road is one of the dumbest things to do. Meet and cruise and hang out and go race somewhere that doesnt garnish attention.

I don't talk on here to have a profound affect on peoples lives. It's fun to get on here and talk a little trash. I'm not your dad. Just giving my .02.
i think sat nite was the 1st time ive been on williamson in mabey a yr. i have a civic and a gt roll up on me a rev like they wanted to run hahahaha
street racing happens whether you like it or not... i was just pointing out its not always young kids in their rice mobiles... besides, i think it is fine if you do it on a secluded road with lil to no people around... it's all in fun, and most of the people who won these cars are fine drivers... if they know what they are doing, and know how to do it properly, it can be safe and fun... oh and its "their" not there....

this is the problem down here and is why street racing is so popular... the closest 1/4 track is 2 hours away in gainesville... there has been talk of building another track in jax(there was one 5 years ago, but jax is expanding and the gov't made it into section 8 housing)... but street racing is crazy down here, just in the past three weeks there have been 5 or 6 street racing related crashes or arrests, and it was all dumb ricers racing on US-1, which is littered with cops.... one of the incidents was a 22 yr old girl in an RSX-S that was racing something shitty, saw a cop pull out, so she pulled her e-brake going about 80, which resulted in her losing control of the car and having it flip over a few times and end up in a ditch... she is fine, but it shows how stupid some people are and it shows why we(both roanoke and jax) need a proper 1/4 mile track...
Everyone kept telling me about a nasty 50 trim SRT out, didnt think I'D have a run in with it. That was the first time I had took the boost past 7lbs with out detonating with the new GT3561.. I think it still leaning out tho, can't get my wideband to read. Race was fun, Fucker was blowing the tires away in third after I took it to 11psi.I would of love to got another run in, but i can't play around with those truckers behind me, i hate racing around em.
I wish people would stop with the whole "we street race because we don't have a good track" argument. People street race because they want to, period.
I used to live in Philly, where there's a pretty big street racing scene (there's actually two scenes, the dumbass ricers who race down on Front St. and then the fast cars who do it the smart way and get off a run here and there in secluded spots). But they have one of the best 1/4 mile tracks on the east coast about 20 minutes away (Atco), and there's still a big street racing scene. So it doesn't matter if you have access to a good track, it's still going to happen.

I also raced when I was 16. Then I grew up.
P.S. The 50 trim srt is junk. I have a single cam turbo that would make it look stupid...
