I've never been to New London either, however I have had people on the board PM me and tell me to go. The track doesen't look any safer than your average street race. I guess the only thing that would make it resemble a drag strip is the tiny tree

Not worth it in my opinion, especially only being test and tune every other thurs? Track is terrible...should just close the doors and let planes run on it again. I guess you could always just use it for running minibikes.

I have been once a few weeks ago it wasn't what I expected at all and I had some safety concerns, on the right side of the track you can stand and walk up to the burnout box and cars staging if you wanted. No wall or fence or anything to guard you at all and people were doing just that. But it doesn't look like the track will be going anywhere anytime soon cause it brought a good crowd of Redneck racing in that day lol.

Thats why no one wants to hear about some bad track or track conditions that caused this to happen.

If you will read back through the thread no one ever blamed the track for what happened. We just said it was a crap track and it is. It is in terrible condition.

Then by all means street race because we all know that is way more safer. Plus it seems a lot of people dont have a problem with thursday.

no street racing here. I'd rather just drive to shelor, hell its a shorter distance anyway.

BTW, its not even a damn track. Its just a strip of asphalt in the middle of a grass field with planes everywhere.

Well I didn't see that post. However there is some truth in that because the track was slick that day. From what I understand several other vehicles had some traction issues as well. But that's not to say that is what caused it.

then why race there?

simple solution to a complex (in someones eyes) problem.

i was somewhat with the dude that wrecked to begin with, but after watching the vid.....i think i am gonna lean back the other way now. apparently dude was a little over confident about his abilities in that car.

golden rule: NEVER assume you are in full control in racing. it would be called racing then. ALWAYS expect the unexpected.

1. he redlighted, which is immediate sign to pull out of the throttle. had he done that at the 60' mark, he would have had plenty of time to try to correct the stuck throttle problem

2. KNOWING the track is slick at the big end and not having that in your mind, thats just poor preparedness.

3. not familiarizing yourself with the car....again, poor preparedness.

blame can be pointed in many directions. there is no one fault here (this is starting to sound like a FEMA disaster report ) but multiple failures that compounded into a decent issue.

my one question is who is paying for the damage to the plane?

those are commonly referred to as "airports"
