For you kids who know NOTHING about the Z car.....

The Z31 300ZX did not come in a twin turbo setup, that was the later Z32 chassis. The LAST REAL Z car. And you can drift a Z31. The non-turbo is a bit of a dog but it can be done. It has a bit of a flat power curve thats easy to get used to but its drive train is a little sloppy but this is due to its age more than design. As for aftermarket support, thats because most of you dont think if its not Eibach, Tokico or AEM its not good enough. First I would like to say, STEP AWAY FROM THE RICE PARTS!!!! Here is a good link with a few good Z resource sites on it. This may or may not help.

Good luck. And if you want to a engine swap in it the 200ZR swap is the most common one other than the VG30ET swap. The 200ZR is the suedo Nissan supported RB20DET swap in the Z31 chassis. Dont get the idea that you can drop a RB26 or a RB25 in there, the RB20 is about a nasty as it gets without spending MAD money.

i dont have access to photobucket here but i drift my pig Z32 300zx
ahh wait- http://www.motortopia.com/garage/cars/nismo300zr2 check the avatar at the top left. pm me if you want more pics.

nice to be different, i dont think it will be easy as a 240 or AE86, but sure you can slide it. i would leave the suspension stock while you learn weight transfer.
get it quick and go to the pungo event the 28th to practice LEGALLY and get tips from other drivers.

good luck with it!

Help me out. How is the Z32 the "last real Z car"?

Because it was an overweight bastardization of what the 240Z was?
Because it was an overpriced yuppie cruiser for the gold chain wearing crowd rather than the affordable Corvette/911 alternative like the 240Z was?

Or maybe it's because the 350Z costs $8000 less and it's just as fast as the 300ZX TT that really pisses you off.

Help me out here.

Oh, and if you want to know Z cars then stay the hell away from www.automotiveforums.com. That site is for ricer tools and fanboi sack riders like Hodo.

You want some REAL help with your Z then check out www.hybridz.org

Throw a SBC in it. Plenty of torque easy to find. Mostly cheap......

Thats it.

Of course it will need suspension work, tires, and ect. It is a RWD car and it has about 160hp, 170 ft. lbs, and weighs around 3000 lbs. I was wandering if this is a possible good beginner drift car?

Check out Z31.com; good info on there for your particular Z
