Anything can be done with money, but you have to look at the money/ benifit ratio here. Z31 turbo's still suck. That car Eugene posted is badass, but part of what makes it badass is rarity, and all the custom one-off parts he made for it.

I would say try to get into something more conventional and then go from there, personally.
What is more conventional? The reason i suggested the 300 is b/c i have already and i wouldnt have to buy another car.

possible? yes. New drifter friendly? No. For the reason stated above me, a novice to drifting would have a hell of a time getting the jist of things. As much as I hate to say it find a cheap 240SX and go from there.

i had an 87 300zx. those motors are a pain in the ass to do anything to. And mine wasnt even turbo. It lacked aloooot of power, and its heavy as hell. Like others suggested, get something more convention...i.e. 240sx....

It really is.

Going to the Corolla from the Rx-7 felt like I was in a car riding on 1 wheel.

I don't think he wants to buy another car, so to answer the question, yes, it is possible to have fun drifting a 300zx.

Some people I'm sure would have fun drifting a tank or 757 as well, it would be the same effect. Piggish and slow.

I used to have an 86 Z. There is no aftermarket support for these cars. You could use it to drift, but keep your eyes open for something else because finding upgrades is HARD, and if you do find some they are usually expensive.
