from what ive noticed the "drift teams" and street drifters may be asses. but those are also the people that think they are too good to come to events so, in the grand scheme of things they dont matter.

1. most of them heard about drifting 2 years ago and bought a 240 last year. they have nothing invested in the sport as a whole. bandwagoners if you will.

2. the holier than thou attitude would never fly in the "real" drifting world cause there, we are all friends and no one has beef.

everyone was a n00b at some point, no one here invented it so maybe they are just sad because they really dont have any clue themselves and dont want anyone to know. back in 99 when i startd lookout i never ever thought that the group of 2 guys then would grow to 8 by 2002 and the first hyperfest and now a forum with over a thousand members, a team that competes in FD and demos, and countless hundreds of others that come to events, come to my house to party and spread the love of the sport around the country. on a side, US Drift has chapters from here to hawaii and im trying to help our air force guys get the ban on oki lifted. i look down on anyone who doesnt welcome a n00b in and help them get it straight and i feel sorry that they arent having as much fun as i am.

cause if its not fun, whats the point?

Amen brotha!, i still remember my first event spectating and my first event driving. As anyone who has become a lookoutdrift.com member knows we always appreciate a noob, as i was appreciated nearly two years ago when i joined the LKT Family. And as some of you know i learned the hard way not to drift on the street (ie wrecks, tickets, fines, and jail time). hopefully some of you who are interested in becoming a better driver or drifter if you will, will also feel that its necasary to practice in a controlled legal environment. I used to drag about 4 years ago and its nothing against drag, i just happen to prefer drift. Its all about fun, and maybe becoming better at something you really enjoy.

Hell yes, I've always chose fun over popularity.

TRUFFLE SHUFFLE!!!!

but on a serious note, I read this entire thread (yeah....i'm pissed off about doing that lol)

-NO professional drivers of any kind learned ALL of their skills on the street. If ANYONE has learned ALL of their skills on the street, they are severely lacking in driver skill.

-Drifting is not about racing. Yes it is a real Motorsport. If you don't get it then stop trying.

-To the initial poster in this thread, Drifting is judged by a panel of judges based on various criteria such as, but not limited to: entry speed, exit speed, angle (in relation to the traditional racing line), car control (especially in tandem).

-The first 3 pages are full of misinformation and 14 year old boys talking like they know what's going on. Don't pay attention to that if you're actually looking for information.

Drifting is a style of driving.

Like Kickboxing.

Different styles are used in different circumstances.
Grappling and Judo styles are more efficient in tight spaces.
Capoera is used with more space available. Its simply a technique moreso than a motorsport. Driftings very useful to prevent passing. Drifting will make your track times faster in the rain. Seeing Tsuchiya drift while consitantly passing other cars in his ARTA NSX is a sight to behold. Drifting is simply a tool.

Of course it is a motorsport. I hate it when people say that it is not. That would be impossible...

... seeing as how it is a sport... ...that involves motors.
