NASA Hill climb at Snow Shoe WV.
Well we got back last night and what a great place to put on a event. The course was 1.8 miles long with 10 turns and about 1000 ft of elevation change. It was super fast with some of the GT1 Vettes and Camaros hitting over 140. I was WFO from the start all the way to the braking point at turn 4. This was about 3100ft. Except for four switchbacks it was flat all the way. At least in my formula ford. The elevation there at the top is 4850ft. so i had to rejet, but I hit it the first time and the gearing was perfect. I was on the revlimit in high at the shut off on both straights. There was no way I was going to catch those V8s on that course but I won my class and finished 8th OA. On guy came from Chicago with a wicked carbonfiber bodied, tube frame chopped Dodge pickup. (wing, 500+ inches, and 700+ HP). He finished up second to Mark Mashburn's GT1 Camaro out of Hickory, NC. See www.nasa-southeast.com www.snowshoehillclimb.com for results and photos. A group on the forum have videos coming in a day or two. I'll sure be back next year. I wonder how I could get a V8 in my formula ford? Let see 940lb. with 500HP. That should do it.
I've run a few autocrosses that had a SAE entered and it seemed they run well. I believe they are intake restricted and I would guess they would run times comparative with a formula ford restrcited and quicker without the restrictor. As you can see in the results, the Legends cars are a little slower than my formula ford but that is mostly due to the tires. With slicks they would be closer. They are about 125 HP @1300lb and I'm 115 HP @ 1130lb., so it is almost a power to weight ratio deal at a hillclimb. Come on out to one and let's see.

Va Tech used to bring theirs out to TSCC autocrosses all the time. They would have 4-5 drivers in the car. They always managed to compete in the state chamionsip events.
