Thumbs up Re: May 2nd @ Pungo

Hey guys I'm new at this, i was out there on the 2nd and saw some of you. It was a lot of fun, my question is this: Did i do ok? i was the one in the first heat with the black integra and my best was a 41.2xx. that placed me 30th on the listing. i was happy, but this is my first run. also, how big a difference do tires make on times? I will be back out there again and i appreciate all of the help this past weekend.

honda/acura represent!!
Times are good for first timer man!! I cant compare to mine because I ran in the rain. But what class are you running in?
I got into this not too long ago. been getting some good advice from good people, now all I hear is I need tires, really bad!! so yeah tires make a difference. I cant say which one yet because I dont have experience with them. check this thread out.

Good times for a first timer!!!!!

You are thinking in the right direction (i.e. tires). But first you need to know what class are you in and how serious do you want to be?

If you look at the the top 20 finishers 99% of those cars are preped very well for there specific class. So thats why I always ask how serious do you want to be at this. I went out and bought another car just to AutoX (91 Civic Si, the teal one). But you dont need to go crazy if you are having fun.

Michael

Hey Micheal, i saw you run and you were very good. i was impressed. i went over after to try and talk with you, but you weren't there. i am in the sts class. i have tokico illuminas, lowering springs, type r rear sway bar, and strut bars. i have yoko avs es100s as tires on stock rims. i am seriously considering getting into it very seriously. i was going to go forced induction, but i have stopped that for now. i want to stay in the stock tires so i have heard azenas are good, good tread wear and good grip. let me know guys thanks. oh and i appreciate all of the help this past weekend.

Matt- If you are looking for a good tire for STS you cant go wrong with the Falken Azenis or the Kumho MX. I have had them both and am digging the MX now but at a National level its a 50/50 split.

You may want to try a more agressive alignment. I'm not sure what your stock settings are but alittle more neg camber front and rear would help.

I'm sorry I missed you I am always glad to help. I wish I was more comfortable in the car but its getting better.

One more question for you guys, if i go ahead and get some azenas, i am going to need a different set of rims to run with, are there any obvious choices? i have the stock gsr ones now, but i would like a diff set for the track, should i get another set of stock ones, or should i get an aftermarket set, also stick with 15 or go to 16? also if i go aftermarket, what width, since i'm in the sts class i can go up to 7.5 right? which rims hold up to the abuse and wear of autox any suggestions are appreciated. thanks
