my point is, for every one of these guys who can actually go to an event and not make themselves look stupid, there's 50 knuckleheads that'll go through the intersection at virginia beach blvd and independence, jerk the wheel right and then left again while slamming the gas and yanking the e-brake, fishtail a couple times and call it a 'mad tyte drift'.

i'm just bitter because about 5 years ago when my 240 was a pretty rare thing in the 'import scene' people used to look at me like i was stupid when i talked about drifting, but now it's the coolest thing since the fast and the furious.

where the hell do these 'real' drifters practice at anyway? that was always an issue with me. i just don't feel comfortable taking my car to an industrial park at 3 am.
then you are gonna be even more pissed when the next fast and the furious comes out..... i heard its gonna be in japan and follow some nonsense drifting storyline....

drifting is insane, i wish i could say i heard of it before playing need for speed underground...... but i can't. i wanna go to japan and see some real underground togue. but yeah i dunno. im not a drifter, looks like fun, and all. but i have a FWD civic, and no where near enough money to pay for new tires and all the suspension stuff i would need to get!

isn't there an EF in formula d?

all rwd in formula d as far as i know, but you can drift in a fwd if you can get the technique down.

a buddy of mine took me 'drifting' in his 80-something fwd fiat in the dirt. haha basically he just got up to speed, jerked the e-brake and steering wheel at the same time, left the e-brake up and countersteered while laying into the throttle.

then again a LONG time ago there was a website called slide club or some shit like that, these dudes took their civic si's and put fucking plastic trays like you get at mcdonald's underneath the rear tires and locked the e-brake. i wouldn't suggest doing this though.

all the people stateside would hate drifting just as much if they were in japan because of all the keep it on the track fags...like none of them ever street race...speed, park illegally, have mods on there cars etc...wrong is wrong...people who try to use all the be4 mentioned points are hypocrites(and alot of sponsored cars over there started on teh street and got the jobs driving pro be it circuit or drift cuz they were found by drifting/car mags illegally drifting on public streets...doesnt make it right...but im just sayin)

i love it...always will...and ill continue to practice...and since i cant seem to make an event it'll be illegal more than likely

honestly, as long as you don't do it in traffic i guess it's no big deal. the only person you're going to affect is yourself. i used to have that mentality until the street races started getting busted all the time and it just got frustrating, so i decided to not do a damn thing unless it was at the track.

that being said, i wouldn't mind checking it out. i think my perceptives have been realigned after getting my sileighty. i can't see myself drifting this thing though... not yet at least.

besides my tires are brand new and relatively expensive. maybe once i secure a set of stock wheels i'll start screwing around with it again.
