There is nothing in the VA state code (as of right now) that outlaws nitrous in your vehicle. Period.

 

It is not legal for the bottle to be in the car in SCCA Solo II rules. This is the Auto-X forum afterall. At the local level they will probably let you slide with the bottle just disconnected, but don't be surprised if you run into some safety steward who has an issue with you running with the bottle from the safety prespective. Lets face it, it doesn't really help in an autocross. Leave the bottle home and save yourself hassles at the event.

 

yes it is illegal in virginia at a minumum you have to have the feed line off. they can impound your car if your caught. i know its easy to not get caught but we had a guy down on the strip in va beach get pulled for his muffler and when they asked him what the nos button was for he was dumb enough to tell them oh its my nos like it was no big deal. and his was hooked up. they were nice though the made him disconnect it and sent him on his way

 

You and your chode comments aren't needed, incase you haven't been paying attention almost all of the fastest cars use the two major power adders, which is of course Forced Induction and Nitrous. Anyone that dismisses nitrous as a poor upgrade is a fool. Afterall incase you haven't been paying attention it's not just about making the most power but also being smart about where you spend your money so you can have more of it on the other pertinent upgrades as well.

 

If you look on the Nitrous bottles it says right on there DOT approved

 

I don't see the point of nitrous
