Is the 96 Z24 cavya 4 banger or a V6????????

 

4 cyl...if you look at the last number in the Z nomenclature, it tells you how many cyl. the car is...cav. z24 (4cyl) beretta z26 (6 cyl.) camaro z28 (8cyl.)

it's a 4. however i have a couple questions.

Chevy Silverado Z-71,Corvette Z-06, Lumina Z-34? these don't exactly fit your nomeclature. not trying to nit pick.

you are correct in the first three however. Z-24 has the 2.4L ecotec I-4. The biggest engine even put in a Cavy (from the factory) was the 2.8L F/I V-6. Which by the way is a HORRIBLE engine. (had one in the ol' tank)...

 

my friends got a z-24 and it came stock with a 3.4 v6, so your nomenclature is way off.

 

i work with these
cars all day long! the biggest engine put into a cavalier was a 3.1 from 90-94 model years. GM NEVER put a 3.4 into a cavalier! the 95 z24 came with a 2.3 dohc engine while the 96-up z24 came with the 2.4 dohc engines.

i hope that clears up the false claims of the "factory equipped" 3.4 in the z24!

how ever it may be posible that he has a lumina z34 which did in fact come with a dohc 3.4 v6 engine. any more questions?????

forgot about the 3.1..

didn't the Z-34 lumina have a 3.8? i amy be wrong but i thought it was the 3.8. weren't too bad. 235 hp. still too heavy

 

in 1992 the z24 had a v6 3.1 sorry i said 3.4, but it did have a v6, i know that for a fact

 

YES some of the newer luminas did come with a 3.8.
i don't believe they were called z34s though
